Welcome to my web site! I'm a freelance writer with special interests in children's writing and humor. I also have a background in technical writing and a degree in Radio-Television-Film.

In the past couple of years, I signed with a literary agent on the basis of my middle grade novel manuscript (hooray!), and moved from the Austin, Texas area to Dallas/Fort Worth. I am now part of the North Central/Northeast chapter of SCBWI, though I did return to Austin for an Awesome Austin Writers' Workshop, a "VCFA in the Lone Star State" event, Austin SCBWI's 2010 Destination Publication conference, and Erin Murphy Literary Agency's 2011 agency retreat. I've been working on picture book manuscripts this year, and also tossing around some novel ideas.

My main claim to fame from a few years back is that I was a wiener winner! As one of 50 nationwide winners of Oscar Mayer's "Oh I Wish" essay contest, I won a day in the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. On October 9th, 2004, I used the Wienermobile as a bookmobile, to give free books (and wiener whistles, of course) to kids at the Cedar Park Public Library in Cedar Park, TX, and at the Faulk Central Library in Austin, TX. Oscar Mayer also donated money to both libraries and the Reach Out and Read literacy organization on my behalf. For more on my wiener odyssey, see related entried in my journal.
